Sell More Fish and Chips Using Online Marketing

Following on from part 1, here is our quick guide for how to market your shop online, to help you sell more fish and chips.

Google reviews

It’s so important to get your company name up Googles search engine rankings. Get customers to write a Google review. The more quality reviews, the higher up the rankings Google will put you.

Social media marketing

Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook. Where would we be without it. People will often check for Facebook reviews when deciding where to eat or to locate the best local restaurants, its authentic information that people trust. 93% of buying decisions are based off social media, a cheap and simple way to get your message out there. Start connecting!

You Tube video

Okay, it may be a little expensive, but what about a video telling people why they should come to your fish and chip shop. A personal message from the owner always goes down well. Remember, Google likes video content on websites, it will help promote your business.

TripAdvisor

Like it or not, put your shop name into Google and TripAdvisor will be up there on the first page. There has been so much negative talk about TripAdvisor where competitors enter fictitious negative entries we sometimes forget the good things. Make sure you are the main fish and chip shop in your town by asking people to write a review on TripAdvisor.

Local Directories

Our research shows that 60% of the searches on pages one/two on Google are for directories. This is a simple way to get your name out there and is often free. On page three of Google we also found “Scoot” and “118118.”

Build a database

This was the first thing I did in business back in 1989. I bought a cheap CRM system called ACT! And started to build a record of every person and company I spoke to. I would keep notes, for example:

Ben has two children, 5 and 7.

Brian is retired and used to be in the Navy.

Sandra works in the local Tesco’s, just got married.

Now it is more sophisticated with people giving out email address’s. Think about how you can build a database of your clients. It’s fantastic for customer retention.
